All About Karsten Brabänder
I am interested in Asia since early childhood. I drew my first characters at the age of 7 and started learning Japanese when I was 13. I studied Prehistoric Archaeology, Japanese History, Japanese Language and Literature and specialised in East Asia and Southeast Asia. By chance I got involved in several research projects on Vietnam and expanded my geographic boundaries. I learned Vietnamese in Germany and later on at Can Tho University. Since 2012 I have been working as a writer and translator, but continue my archaeological studies, mainly in my two research fields ancient glass and Buddhist archaeology.
