Karsten Brabänder, M.A.
Welcome on my page. I hope you have some entertainment while reading through. First of all, I decided to write in English, because most of my clients nowadays communicate in this language. For German, Japanese, and Vietnamese, please, click the links in the bar above!
Written texts are more important than ever before. Although we have a variety of means of communication nowadays, writing is still one of the most dominant part of our daily lives. In fact, we less communicate orally but more through sms, emails, tweets and comments, are we not? And translation is, therefore, also more important than ever before. Roughly fifty years ago, communication with people of other cultures were limited either to travelling and tourism, or to specialised people like artists, politicians, researchers and businesspeople. Today, we are confronted daily with symbols, texts and other meaningful content of other cultures. Translators and interpreters help us to overcome those language barriers.
I offer translations from Japanese and Vietnamese to German. To ensure good and quick results in high-quality, I mainly translate into my native language German. However, in urgent cases I will accept projects into Japanese or German.
With a background in humanities I focus on humanities (anthropology, art, history, linguistics), science (chemistry, mining, metallurgy, materials analysis), literature and general translations.
I am open for requests in other fields, but I reserve the right to reject any texts which do not match my experience and expertise – this will be for your own good!
I have also Facebook, LinkedIn, Proz and other pages, including a small blog, where I regularly publish some news and other stuff which is related to translation. For your first info, I suggest that you have a look at my bio and then read the FAQ page for more information about how translation works, how to send me files and what to expect.
